April & May On the farm we've finished all our drilling, now it's warmed up again we've been able to plant the peas. All we need now is plenty of rain to give the crops a good start. As you can see from the photo below, the oats we planted have germinated well and are growing strongly.  Elsewhere spring lambs are growing and everywhere the primroses and daffodils are in full bloom. Shortly the bluebells will be out, carpeting the woods in purple and filling the air with their delicious springtime scent. The birds are starting to pair up, these ducks have already managed it, and around here the chaffinches are very busy courting and defending territories. The first migratory birds are returning, swallows are swooping around our farm buildings catching insects on the wing, and pied wagtails have been bobbing around on lawns in the villages searching for food (sorry - no photos yet!).
